BAD TREATMENT OF CLIENT
Absa Bank is truly disappointing. I requested a replacement for my credit card in August 2025, but it was declined due to outstanding arrears, which were settled in July 2025. Since then, my account has been up to date with no arrears whatsoever.
On January 12, 2025, I called to request a reduction of my limit, which was successfully completed, and I also asked for a replacement of my expired card. I was informed that this was processed. However, when I called today to follow up, I was told that the card replacement was declined because I made a payment after the billing date. The billing date was Saturday, the 3rd and I paid on the 5th which is a Monday. How does this affect the issuance of a replacement card for an existing account?
I am not applying for a new credit card; I simply need a replacement for my existing one. Should I really consider opening a new credit card with another bank because the issues is not affordability while I already have one with ABSA? You refuse to replace an expired card simply because my payment was made after the billing date, despite my account being up to date. This is incredibly exasperating and It is quite disappointing to see how you are treating your client in this way. It appears that you do not take into account the potential reputational risks associated with such unwise decisions, where a thoughtful and proactive approach could have been beneficial.
