Bad service with potential adverse impact
Apparently Absa changed its systems last month, to reject debit orders coming off its \call account\" products. This facility had been working for years, regardless of what Absa claims is the purpose of this product.
There is no indication on the account statement about the rejected transactions. I only noticed it this month when incidentally checking my bank statement online and noticing that nothing was debited.

The call centre agent said it was because 'my debit card expired'. I explained that It expired long ago., and cards have nothing to do with debit orders. In Benmore branch they eventually explained the system block. Apparently letters were sent on 11 March. How does Absa expect clients to receive letters in time, and rearrange debit orders before start of next month? and over a holiday period? (20 d/os in my case). Why did Absa not use SMS and or email details to send the warning? I asked that the d/o be posted this time at least. but they \"cannot\" do it. I am still waiting for replies about the mod.e of communication and what they will do to help me this month at least... The branch staff (Patricia) said she would speak to her manager. I am still waiting..."
