Bad service 30/12/2020

Absa Parow Bad Service With the Government Gazette published on 29 December 2020, it clearly stated that you need to wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth, even if it is home made. No where does it state it has to be 3 ply material or what type of mask it should be.

Entering the premises, we were blocked because my partner had a buff on. It was bought and covered his nose and mouth. We were then told that ABSA has put a rule in place that the Buff is not sufficient, because the material is not thick enough to THEIR standards. When asked if they have read the Government Gazette and understand the meaning of what was explained in it - the response from the Customer Care Manager was that she did not had time to read it and that we will agree to disagree.

*** - *****... their rules override the Governments? Nowhere on the building, inside or outside does it state that you cannot wear a buff. No notification was mailed, sent by email or SMS advising of this so called new Standard of Mask. Old aged People that are SASSA Pensioners using Uber/Bolt or taxis to get there, do not have the money to pay for new masks. It is bad enough that they are being charged to withdraw their money at the ATM.

Maybe if it is not compliant to their standards, they should hand out the appropriate masks to their customers, as we have already paid money to have protection.

Also, not all want this tap and go service activated. Should ask if it is wanted before assuming....and we all know what happens when you assume!! It is much safer to have a pin when you are a SASSA pensioner to prevent a spending spree if it get ******.

Thanks for making up my mind not to be a customer of this institution any longer. Got a 100% bond with no hassle after being a client and bond holder for 35+years.
