I did a sim swap a very long time ago with the number linked to my account. absa, which i'm not surprised - failed to communicate and notify us that a sim swap affects your account. My online banking is now blocked/on hold and i cannot perform any transactions. My absa account is an old account - i also don't use it frequently so i was surprised when i logged in and found that it was held. I then called to get assistance and spoke to a gentleman who told me that a consultant will call me in 2 hours. I also asked the gentleman if i need to do a walk-in to the branch as i was prepared to do so and he advised me that not for what i wanted at the moment, instead i must wait for a call from absa. I reiterated to the gentleman that he must use an alternative number which i gave to him, which he in turn, read to me ensuring that it's the correct number. For the whole day yesterday, no one from absa called me. i took the phone today and called to find out status and only to find that i was going to fail the stupid security test. I asked to speak to a supervisor to try and explain my frustration so that they can assist me and Banele, the supervisor could not help me as she kept telling me that i need to go to the branch. I did not have a problem with going to the branch but had someone called me yesterday like i was told, i would have gone to the branch and sorted everything out. banele insisted that someone tried to call me but when i asked her which number they used, it was a wrong number and NOT the number i gave to the gentleman. absa's incompentency is causing me unnecessary admin. 1- It's unfair that the security questions are based on information that can change at any given time - e.g. employment has changed and most definitely some of the contact numbers i gave for next of kins have also changed. 2- failing to notify people about the sim swap issue. 3 - i will not take my time off work today to do something which i was prepared to do yesterday just because someone was not paying attention at absa and not giving the right information. Banele, if really she's a supervisor - I told her to help me and ask me any other questions as I WILL NOT DO A WALK-IN and told her that if i get de*****ed, i will deal with it should i not the be the person i claim to be, i told her that the current recording 20 december 2017 between 10:30 and 11:00 is recorded so should anything happen to my account - i will take responsibility as i'm the one asking for the help. I am not prepared to leave work now and drive for 15 minutes into the branch for something which could have been prevented if absa was proactive and their staff were attentive. I could done that yesterday as i had set time to do that. SO I NEED TO transact now online. someone please help me.
