Bad experience FIKA

To whom it may concern.

I was at Absa Sinoville last week to change the address on my, my husband and son's accounts with all the relevant documents. (I do have signing powers on both accounts).

First, they refused to accept my driver’s license (it's a month old renewal with a recent photo of me). The only document they want is my 20 year old ID document before they could help me.

Secondly, they refused to help me change my husband and son's addresses because I haven’t got their ID documents with me. I did have my husband's passport there but they still refused to help me. According to them, the green ID documents are the only official document that is acceptable because it confirms that the client is a SA citizen. It is clear from any passport / driver’s license that you are a SA citizen and therefore it is unacceptable to me that a driver's license / passport is not official documents that cannot be accepted by ABSA.

I understand that it is not ABSA Sinoville who makes the rules. According to them, these rules are compliant. This rule is unacceptable because a passport and a driver's license are official South African documents. Furthermore, I'm sure there are many other clients who are also unhappy about this.

I was at FNB last week to get a new card on my father's account as his was ****** and also because he was unable to do it himself (I also have signing powers on my father's account) The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They did not even ask for my father's ID. My fingerprint and driver license were enough.

After this experience we are in the process to move all our accounts to FNB. Absa helped us make up our minds.
