Bad banking business.
I have been a client of Absa for more than 25 years and until recently I have had no complaints. I have been taking advantage of the Absa Cash Rewards program, for which I am charged a monthly fee. The rewards I receive far outweigh this fee. Now suddenly,, Absa is forcing their clients to open a debit order against debt on their credit cards, before they will pay out any future rewards. I phoned the Rewards program help line and was informed that unless I opened said debit order I would no longer receive my rewards but that Absa would continue to take my monthly fee. This is **************** an Absa is holding us to ransom. In order for me to initiate a debit order against debt on my credit card, I would have to open up a savings account, both for which I would be charged admin fees. The government taxes us on our investments, the bank charges us to put money into the bank, charges us to keep the money in the bank, then charges us to take it out. Where does it end? In bygone days people kept money under mattresses or in old coffee tins. I cannot do that now because of the lawless element out there who would gladly releave me of it all. I have cancelled my Cash Rewards. In some bad months, that money was so useful. It appears that if I won the Lotto or received a huge inheritance, the bank would be only too pleased to give me free this and free that. They do not care about their clients who work really hard for their, often, low wages or salaries. They would not care if I went to another banking organisation. I don't earn enough! SHAME ON YOU ABSA!
