BA CARD needs policy makers with brains

I was called and offered a 20% credit limit increase. I agreed and was asked to send proof of income. Why. I have had the card for 2 years and paid MORE EVERY month than the full amount asked. I have retired in the meantime and earn a fraction of what I did before. BUT, I have unit trusts, took my half million tax free lump sum, unbonded property, lent my children money which they pay back regularly, and this lot is only interested in my INCOME. For goodness sake, I have ALREADY earned the money and it is in investments. \No sir, we need your bank statement or salary slip\". But what about my assets and my flawless track record and YOU RANG ME and offered the increase. \"No sir, we need your bank.....\". So I went into the branch of ABSA and the patient lady rang them up and asked to speak to a manager. After explaining all again \"No sir, we need your bank statement or salary slip\". The strange thing is that I am happy with the workings of the card and can continue as such, but for the odd month there might be a large purchase like air tickets for the family - for which I have covering finance, but they have this knee jerk one dimensional policy. Shove your increase then. "
