ATM deposit Theft Concern

I am an ABSA client. There was an incident that happened recently. As it is now the norm that students must register to universities online. There is this particular student who went to Park-station ATM (around 3pm, Friday 01 February 2019)to deposit registration money. Because of lack of knowledge he asked somebody who was by the ATM to help him deposit the registration money to a particular account. The person did deposit the money possibly to his own account. I asked the particular student to query inside the bank. The bank could not help the student recover his registration money even though he got a proof in term of how much he need to deposit and at a particular time (Chances that anyone could deposit same amount at that particular time is almost zero. The bank has capability of tracing such transaction to any account that got the exact deposit from that particular ATM at that particular time. There is also whatsapp conversation between me and the student to backup the student claim. The bank could do a lot to improve ATM ***** but they do not seems to be that interested.
