Application for FlexiReserve account pending for more than 3 months (from 8 June to date,14 September)
On 8 June 2020, my husband and app**** for a FlexiReserve account with ABSA due to major repairs to be done at our home. We were told the application process should take 3 - 5 business days. We were at the ABSA Baywest, Port Elizabeth branch for over two hours, completing and signing all the necessary forms in order to "ensure there were no comebacks". 3 weeks later, and there was still no FlexiReserve account and no feedback. I lodged an online query & phoned the call centre; only to be told the FICA documents were still outstanding. How this could be the case when my husband had e-mailed both our Telkom & our Municipal account to the Consultant who assisted us at the Baywest branch. I e-mailed the Consultant who assisted us at the branch but to date I had no response on my e-mail. The call centre agent assured me he will contact the consultant at the branch himself and he call me back with an update. A week later, still no update. Again I had to lodge an online query. Long story short, since the application on 8 June, I have been issued with 5 different reference numbers (C-***5; C-***4; C-***5; C-***1; C-***6); I've made visits to the branch & numerous calls to the call centre. Each time with the same response about the FICA not being completed. Who does your FICA? Are you outsourcing it? How is it possible for ABSA to act like the FICA process is out of their control? After, two months of queries, we were requested to go do the FICA again. We went to the Baywest branch again; and after an hour of thumb prints & signatures, we were told the system was giving them problems and the process cannot be completed? Again, the Consultant told us they will give us a call back the same day or the next day as they have lodged a query with IT. To date, I have received no call from the "Customer Service" Consultant with an update. I refuse to go to the ABSA Baywest branch again. I went to the Walmer Park branch and we were told there is still an IT system error. So between 8 June and 14 September, I still do not have access to additional funds paid into my bond account. Yet, when I app**** for a credit card, ABSA had no problem doing the FICA on my credit card account. How is the same bank's credit card division so much more efficient than it's counterpart? Is it possibly because the bank wants me to pay more interest?? I have no words. Customer service agents that cannot pick up a phone to call a customer to give them an update on a long outstanding matter? Do you even know what customer service means? So when do you suppose you will have this matter resolved? There seems to be no urgency from your side and in the meantime I'm incurring interest on the credit card that I'm now forced to use .Your "Customer Service" department & FICA department don't seem to give two cents about what they're supposed to do... I am beyond disgusted.
It is indeed pleasing to receive complimentary remarks about staff that have given quality service to customers. I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for the time and effort to bring this to my attention.
