Apparently ABSA leaves mailed statements at the gate of your residence for anyone to have access to it...
I recently joined ABSA about a month ago. After going through my transactions I see that I was charged 50 rand for a bank statement. I was puzzled because I never requested a bank statement and according to my knowledge e statements are free. I called them to ask about this charge and guess what? The agent assisting me tells me that it's because they sent the statement via mail. I'm shocked because I never opted for that and wasn't never informed that this is a default option which doesn't make sense because when I asked her what happens if I'm not home when this statement gets delivered (apparently it gets delivered to your residential address if you dont have a private bag address) she said they put it in the mail box of which I responded I don't have one she said they leave it at the gate. Really?! In this day and age you guys would leave my personal information just like that? Anyone would literally have my personal information if they decide to take letter from the gate or if it's delivered to my neighbours by mistake. Do you not think this is a security risk and I might be negatively affected by it???? I was also told I need to go to the branch to change this... no interest whatsoever to rectify this. It's my problem to go to thr branch. I need someone to track where that letter is and make sure it get delivered to me personally because I'm not accepting my sensitive personal information being left at the get for anyone to have access to it. NOT A HAPPY NEW CLIENT!!!!
