I went to Absa in Lusikisiki to get new replacement cards on Saturday for my mom (I have signing powers on this account) and a Mega U card for my child. Things started getting haywire when this guy named Mlamleni ( I might be wrong because am not sure of his name) offered to help. I don't know maybe Absa in Lusikisiki operates differently, but this guy was on his cellphone two times doing his personal stuff while I was sitting in in front of him and I actually had to repeat what I was saying to him because he was not focused at all. I was really shocked. As someone who used to work for Absa I know that is totally not acceptable. Let me not get started on their customer service, it's appalling. What I don't get is I have authority on this account but he kept asking me for my mom's ID and why she's not there. What's the use of having signing powers on that account if i must always carry my mom's ID around, what must happen when she needs her ID and am not around because this guy says I must bring it whenever i go to Absa ? I had my ID with me for verification purposes. After all that blunder he tried to issue the card for me but the lady's card could not override him. Then he referred me to another guy. What's surprising is that the second guy could not give me the card because my mom's account needed to be " verified" even though it was verified last year. Now what upsets me the most is the level of inconsistency and unprofessionalism that seems to exist in that branch, why didn't the first guy tell me this ? It's not the first time i've been there and they have sent me from pillar to post, and sometimes it actually seems they don't know what thry are doing, especially at enquiries. I didn't get my Mega U card as well because there were no funds in that account, which I partly understood but I get money in that account almost every month, like I said I guess they operate differently than other Absa branches. Am not happy at all with their service and how they handled my queries on Saturday, they seem to treat people like they are illiterate or something. They seriously need to improve their customer service, it is just very bad.
