Appalling and *********** service from ABSA, Montana Branch

On the 18th November 2016 we signed an Offer to Purchase a property. In February ABSA appropved the home loan, one of the conditions being that a surety my husband had signed for, should be lifted. As we currently reside in Germany, we did all we could, from our side, to ensure that all documents required were submitted. On the 15th of February 2017 ABSA Montana Branch confirmed that ALL documents that are required for this condition to be met, were in their possession. My husband then returned to Germany. Three weeks later, I returned to South Africa to, amongst other things, further attend to this transaction, as no progress has been made to lift the surety.

On the 10th March 2017 I had a meeting with Mrs Horner, a Relationship Executive at the Montana Branch, only to be told that our request to have the surety lifted, has, to that date, received no attention at all AND that more documents needed to be signed (this in spite of the fact that we repeatedly requested ABSA to ensure that they have all the documents they needed). With the help of Mrs Horner, I then submitted the additional documents required.

I was told that our request to have the surety lifted will now be passed on to the Credit Section and that we could expect an outcome in this regard within a few days. Needless to say, nothing happened.

On the 12th April 2017 my husband approached Mr Marrengane, Sales Manager, via email: ´I have a surety that has to be lifted... I need to be removed as surety holder. This is a very VERY urgent matter since a purchase of a property depends on this and a business of which we have already taken owenership of on the 1st April 2017 (and into which we have already invested a LOT of money and effort) is at serious risk.´

On the 13th April 2017 Mr Marrangane indicated that ´The team is currently busy preparing the documents which will be ready for the new signatories to sign in next week, where after the two abovementioned sureties will be released/cancelled.´ It is now more than 3 weeks later, and we have had no feedback whatso-ever.

Neither Mr Marrengane or Mrs Horner is available for telephonically or via email.

Endless calls, emails personal visits to the branch , from ourselves, the attorneys, estate agent, the new signatories etc. has to date had absolutely no effect.

Our bond
