Apalling service
After accidentally transferring funds to my personal loan, instead of my credit card on the 30th of March 2023, I contacted the loans department on the 31st to inform them of my mistake. They assured me that the funds would reflect back in my current account within 48 hours. This in fact took a week to be resolved. I also informed the credit card division of my error at the time. They in turn kept harassing me via sms and telephonically about payment not made on time. On the 27th of March payments were made into my credit card, by an external entity and myself which in my view should have been deducted from the total outstansing balance. I was informed that the total balance was still outstanding which I dispute vehemently. Whether a R1000 or R10000 is paid into the card by myself or external entity this should reflect as a payment towards outstanding balances. My credit card was placed on hold which I do understand but I made a payment on the 6th of April which covers the difference for the total installment. The total payment made into the card for end of March is more than the installment due reflecting on my previous statement for this period. My credit card is still on hold after payments were made.I have been a ABSA client for more than 34 years and I am utterly disgusted by service received thus far. I am seriously considering changing my account to a bank that offers better service and charges less for those services rendered. Over the years I have had more than just 2 personal loans with ABSA which should have shown as a good credit record. One would expect a bank to approach you as client to ammend current terms due to a rise in the interest rates. I am currently paying 28.75% on a loan which I truely can't afford. How will or can ABSA change their service to very long or even new clients going forward?
