And they call this service and charge for it!

I needed confirmation of purchasing an international airline ticket as well as confirmation of the insurance cover, provided by the Creditcard type. But to no avail, I emailed the Platinum Card Department on 28th June, eventually after going to the Bank's Actionline department, a Kabelo Modirwa promised the matter would be attended to. After following up with her a number of times nothing happened. Eventually out of frustration I sent 30 consecutive emails to the Customer Care department. Within 30 minutes some phoned from Card Division (Ilse) and promised that she would get someone to phone me. Well that never happened. Then I sat on the phone, for hours, I kid you not, phoning the Platinum Card department, supposedly a dedicated service but a Call Centre and they were of absolutely no help. Eventually a lady suggested I phone ABSA Insurance (remember this is a free service offered to everyone but they knew nothing about it). After telephoning and speaking to 3 different people I eventually got hold of a lady, Noluthando, what a star, she understood my request and asked me to hold on and sent me the info and checked that I had received it and that was finally what I needed. It only took 28 days! The frustration and anxiety I experienced cannot be explained, do Banks really care about their customers? Has personal service now become a Call Centre? I phoned my Private Banker to try and enlist his assistance and although he is based at Century City the telephone gets answered in Johannesburg and they did not know him so kept asking me for his number, both his and his assistant numbers are listed as the same number - a Call Centre in Johannesburg. When I asked to speak to the Head of the Private Bank in the Western Cape they did not have a clue, they kept asking for a name - I was frustrated to the very edge of my being! Bank's are best ignored. Have opened an account with Capitec and what a pleasure to deal with them, they are service orientated and do not charge the earth of their service, how do they do it? Is it that they are really trying to make a difference?
