Amount deducted without notification

Hello, since I've been having financial trouble this year, I've recently just undergone a massive amount of money being deducted from my credit card account. I was informed at a branch that this was due to debt and some expenses not being paid on time. I did however settle (what I thought was settle) the over-the-limit amounts and my accounts were in order. The amount that was taken was the last bit of money I had left to see me through November. I can't even buy food now. If I had been notified of what was owing, I would have made sufficient provision when I was in a position to do so. Can no compromise be made?
