Affordability - So they Say

I recently app**** for a limit increase with Virgin Money Card. The reason was simple, I have a Personal loan that I would like to pay off and Virgin’s interest rate is far superior to what I am currently paying.

Because the limit increase application was higher than the pre-approved amount, the consultant I dealt with, ****ha McNiell, was extremely helpful in setting up the application to be forwarded to the risk assessors. The way she worded it perfectly conveyed what I was intending to do. I pay around R2600 towards a personal loan that is charged at 28%. I want to pay this loan off with my Virgin Card, which has an interest rate of 15%.

Virgin declined the application, saying that it was an affordability issue.

LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT!

You are telling me that I can afford to pay this 28% loan without an issue, but if I want to take the loan over to you people because I favour your 15% interest rate paid over the same period. YOUR RISK ASSESSORS SAY I CAN’T AFFORD IT??? HOW????

Please get back to me on this.

Hi there Mr Mostert

Many thanks for your post and your comments.

If i could ask that you send an email to the talktous@virginmoney.co.za it would be very useful - if you could include either your ID or Card Number it would help us to undertake a full investigation and revert back directly to you as a matter of urgency.

Kind regards

The Virgin Money Team
