I recently said yest to a credit card limit increase, on the basis that I don't have to submit a bunch of documentation (I'm getting quite tired of all the admin). The operator assured me that they can just retrieve the information from my bank statements (as they have done with my husband's ABSA credit card increase - so why not follow suit).
They increased the limit but are now requiring payslips which was stated to be not required. Not only that but the SMS they sent where I should forward my documentation also looks suspicious. ABSA is not even in the domain of the sender address (***) even if it is valid this is bad from a security perspective.
I'm just frustrated, they increased the limit without the documentation. Now they want it and are apologizing for the "confusion". I said to cancel the increase if they can't get around it but to investigate how this is allowed to happen and report back. What changed that others (my husband) is allowed to do it this way, if the issue is that they don't trust the figure why would the statement figure differ from the payslip? It's the principle of the matter.
Best regards,
