Account Paid But Not Closed
I paid my Absa loan account in advance until September 2014. In June 2014 I went to the Brooklyn branch I asked them to capitalize all the amount that I had paid in advance. They then asked me if they can automatically capitalize any payments that I make in advance and I said yes. A few weeks later I received a call from an Absa consultant who asked me the same question and I said yes they must automatically capitalize any amount that I pay in advance.

I made my last payment on 15 Sep 2014 and this, along with the amount paid in advance were sufficient to settle and close the account.

Now Absa are telling me that they never capitalized any amounts but instead they continued to put my money in holding account where they started deducting installments from October 2015. And they say that I now owe them R1500+ and they have handed my account over to some lawyers called Nimble.

I spoke with Brent and Andile Zithole from Absa collections and they both referred me to the lawyers. I called the lawyers and they told me that all they want from me is payment and there is nothing else they can help me with.

Absa refused to give me an email address when I can put my story in writing.
