Account management ,bank chargers and debt collection
I m writing to express my concerns regarding my cheque account, which I have maintained since 2018 without any previous issues. Recently, however, I have been receiving distressing calls regarding the need to settle my account. It is important to clarify that the charges in question are standard monthly fees, not a debt. Last month, an agent contacted me and suggested that I set up a payment arrangement. I agreed to continue making payments of R350 as I had done in the past, as these charges are not indicative of a debt situation. On the 24th, my account balance was negative amount of R1450; however, I received a message indicating my account would be frozen to prevent further monthly charges. Shockingly, within two days, I noticed bank charges for estimated fees amounting R547 which resulted in total estimated charge of R2145 even after being notified that it had been blocked. It is disheartening to experience such treatment despite my loyalty to Absa Bank. To my surprise, I received an SMS stating that my account had been handed over to SSD, without any prior communication, despite having made payment arrangements with your agent. On Friday, I made a payment of R700, and I saw that the previous message regarding my account's status had been removed from the app. However, yersterday I received another SMS from SSD indicating that my cheque is overdue. I would like to seek clarification on the following matters: 1. Why was my account treated in such a manner despite my long-standing relationship with the bank? 2. What steps can be taken to resolve the issue regarding the overdue cheque and unexpected deductions? 3. Can you provide assurance that my account will not face further complications given my efforts to maintain good standing? Again :This raises several questions: 1. *Account Handover*: Why was my account handed over after I made the payment arrangement? 2. *Communication*: Why was I not receiving calls all along to address these issues? 3. *Overdue SMS*: Why am I receiving messages from SSD that my account is overdue despite having made a payment arrangement? 4. *Account Status Notification*: If the blockage notification was removed after my payment, what was the basis for that decision given my current account status? 5. *Bank Charges*: Why have I incurred excessive bank charges after moving my debit order and blocking Mobicred through the bank?
Given the circumstances, I would appreciate your guidance on the way forward, as it is important to address these concerns promptly. The bank charges have become a significant burden, and after almost 15 years as a loyal customer, I feel deeply disappointed and hurt by the treatment I have received. Please advise on how we can resolve these issues. as precaution, I have already transferred my salary to FNB, and if my experience continues to be unsatisfactory, I may consider relocating my home loan and credit facilities there as well. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Specifically, I received a call from Mo****o Setsepu. I informed him that I had logged a complaint with Absa and asked him to call me back on the 7th, pending your feedback. However, he was rude and dismissive, even after I explained that I had deposited R700 into my cheque account.
I would appreciate it if you could address this matter urgently.

Can you pass this message to Rezona as she is not responding to my email
My credit profile is being severely impacted by the bank I've trusted for 15 years, without any prior communication or notice, by handing over my account. If this is indeed the case, I will be forced to take out a loan to settle the bank charges and subsequently move my home loan and credit facilities to a more reliable bank. I am extremely disappointed in ABSA's handling of my account. Moreover, despite my request to instruct the SSD department to cease sending emails and making calls until the investigation is complete, I continue to receive them.
Please see below message from SSD after communicating with you, even after making payment they said account remains unpaid
