Absurd Banking Fees and "protection" Policies

I am honestly at wits end with this bank.

I have been unemployed for the past 8 months and trying to look for work. In the process of looking for work I have been paying my bills (Absa Loan and Credit Card) from my severance until last month where my cost could not be covered in full.

none the less, I contacted ABSA and was told I had a protection policy on my loan and credit card, but I cant use it because the retrenchment was 8 months ago and its been too long. Admiringly I forgot I had this policy (old loan) and instead of using it, I continued payments as normal while you have taken money for this so called protection policy that hasnt helped me in my time of need.

Despite this, I made a payment plan on the loan and credit card and moved on.

Today I was expecting a transfer from a friend to help me with my financial situation until the lockdown is hopefully done and they transferred R1000 to my account.

When I checked the account, I see that there was a R1300 admin charge from ABSA which has thrown my account into overdraft and you as a bank literally just took food out of my mouth and prevented me from managing my debt this month.

What kind of service and moral handling is this ABSA? I've been with you for 15 years and my accounts have always been in good standing with you. The only failure to a debit order on my account prior this month was 4 years ago when YOU failed to load the debit order onto my account twice!

Now when it comes to the point where I am battling to find work and with a lockdown preventing me from finding work. You as a bank wont help me with the policy I have paid you for and to top it off, you have taken money from me without consent, notice or anything.

This is absurd and I want answers now before I go to the Oumbudsman and you can be rest assured I will be leaving this bank. Its a serious disappointment ABSA and I feel you have now broken my trust in you as a bank.
