Absa's wrong calculation after repossessing our house
I bought a house with three two other partners through the Absa home Loans. One of the partners wanted to buy us out so I agreed and signed the offer to purchase presented to me and I also signed the with their Lawyers to hand over the property to the other partner. To my surprise I got a notification that the house was being auctioned by Absa. We bought the House for R1.1m and according to Absa Lawyers the house was sold for R1.450m which according to me has covered their loan amount that we took collectively.
Now I see there is a listing on my account for the amount of R600 000 and when I try to get clarity and the statement of the account from Absa no one gives me the answer they keep putting me from one division to another. I spoke to their Lawyers administrator Tinto Lwayers to try and give me the breakdown of the statement which I have requested from her and she is also waiting for it and her name is Khuthatso from Tinto Lawyers. I went into the branch in Edenvale and they also told me they cannot print the statement of account for me but they offered to help me to phone their legal department, I then spoke to the lady by the name of Bongi from their legal and she also referred me to another department where I spoke to a guy by the name of Marko who also could not assist me.
They are claiming that I owe the amount of R600 000 and yet the house was sold for more than the amount owing R1.450 million. I am currently trying to get a job as I am unemployed and I cannot because of the listing on my name for the amount of R600 000.
This was a joint account with the three partners and yet my account is listed for R600 000. They got their money and I do not know what they still want from me. They claim that the amount of R600 000 was the balance after they sold the house and i am asking myself how could that be when the house was sold from more than the loan that we took from them. They repossessed the house and now they want R600 000 from where on earth should I get that from. This was a joint account.
