I'm extremely disgusted and upset about how daily people lose their hard earned money and all ABASA has to offer is an IM SORRY ... In the early hours of today, my mother lost a large sum of money which cost her, her life. As I am typing she's still recovering from the trauma of this whole ordeal.
My disgust and outrage kicks in when my poor mother is at the ABSA Claremont branch and whilst having informed the consultants of the money that is "magically" going out of the account she is still told to wait. Wait for what ? For the entire account to be cleaned out. And so Yes, it happened ... Airtime to the value of R950 was bought whislt waiting and several R750 transactions occured whilst awaiting assistance because that's what you get when customer service is not there, right ?
Could a consultant not have at least offered to close the card and then ask her to wait ? As a security measure. ??
My mother is uneducated and has never registered for Internet banking so I don't understand the sentiment that the money was taken using internet banking. Who authorised such ? As the owner of the account is illiterate and cannot use same.
Debit order in the beginning of the year went off multiple times which we were advised were untraceable occured. When I asked the consultant who reversed the transactions to close the card and issue a new one, she said it was not necessary. Was that not a preventative measures seeing that for some other reason the card may have been at risk ?
I wish I wouldn't have to be pointing fingers at this point but its the simply customer service that lacks that banks like ABSA lose on loyal customers.
The audacity to tell my Mother that she would not be refunded her hard earned money is like kicking a dog whilst its low. There's no comeback from that.
