ABSA's ATM mystery?

I've been a customer of ABSA for approximately the past 50 years.

ABSA's Services and Actionline departments' lack of reaction is absolutely shocking.

I have enquired re the publicised closure of ATMs in South Africa. How is it possible that this rumour is unknown to ABSA's head office? I also sent them an example of an article where the closure was mentioned.

ABSA Actionline confirmed that they will forward my enquiry to their head office. To date, no reaction.

The action of ABSA really creates the impression that somebody is playing the fool.

When I enquired at retail chain stores, I was informed that costs would be charged for withdrawals. To date, I have not paid charges for cash withdrawals made at ABSA ATM's.

The chain stores also informed me that withdrawals are subject to the condition that the chain stores have funds available for withdrawal.

We reside in a rural area and do not have easy access to ABSA branches. Several individuals in my neighbourhood find this to be unacceptable.

When will ABSA apply transparency to its lifelong clients?

Shame on you ABSA.

Your reaction is an exact replica of the others previously submitted to me. Do you really expect a reasonable person to accept that ABSA is unable to react to two reasonable and simple enquiries? Dr JB Mostert
