Absa: Where process trumps customer care, service and rights on any day

We had the unfortunate experience of having our home broken into yesterday 14 Aug. During the break in our main gate and front door were severely damaged in addition to the items ****** from our home. Unfortunately for us our homeowners insurance is with Absa as our bond is with them. I had been traveling and only arrived home in the evening. I tried to lodge a claim with Absa for the door & gate only to be told to call back in the morning and that if I felt unsafe I should request a security co to provide a guard and Absa would consider covering the cost after their assessment. One wonders how Absa thinks that people have a readily available list of reputable security firms they can call upon. Called today to register the claim . After explaining my concerns about our safety and that the issue needed to be resolved today, Absa as usual went into it process mode with little regard for my concerns and the obvious trauma experienced from the *******. After multiple calls and false promises of response and resolution it seems we will have to endure another anxious evening without sleep and God knows how many more. It is clear that even with a change of clothes it is the same old Absa that cares zero for customer service or customer wellbeing. I am thankful that our household contents insurance is with a proper business that wants to help its customers when things go wrong. If we make it through this evening I will be changing my insurance. Thanks Absa for reminding us why you are number 4 out the 4 big banks.
