Absa Vehicle Finance

My car is financed by Absa,my debit order runs on the 20th every month. On the morning of the 20/06/2025 for some odd reason Absa debited only R112. I got to work and immediately contacted Absa to make them aware of this. The gentleman that I spoke to said he did not know why that was done, however I should wait the proper amount will be debited on the day or the next day which was a Saturday. Surprisingly my account was not debited in either day, Saturday afternoon which is the 21st,i received a mail that said Absa received insufficient funds for my instalment and I need to make payment to avoid negative listings against my name, which 8 immediately did an EFT of the difference. Monday 23/06/2025 Absa debited my account (FNB) and left it overdrawn with R3500 because there was no money in that account. I sent complain email to Absa detailing what happened.... I received acknowledgement on Wednesday stating who is delaying with my complaint. A gentleman by the name of Henri Meiring spoke to me and advised that he can see my account is in advance there for he will request a refund. I explained that the bank will charge me for a negative balance and I'm worried who will cover the bank charges and he said he will try and help me with that although it is not guaranteed. He said the refund could take up to 5days. On Thursday 26/06/2025 he requested my bank confirmation letter for the refund sent it to him nd confirmed that the refund will take place, and funds will reflect on Tuesday the next week.

Friday 27/06/2025 afternoon I recieved notification from my bank stating that the debit has been unpaid due to insufficient funds, which is correct my account was then over drawn R500. I immediately sent an email to Henri Meiring informing him that FNB has unpaid the amount that was debited, because I knew it would cause a mess unfortunately that mail was not acknowledged. Saturday 28/06/2025 Absa banks refund of R3769 was recieved. My bank account was overdrawn due to bank charges that Absa bank caused. Now it meant my car was not paid. My account owed R500 at the point when the refund was done meaning my refund wa now short.

I escalated the issue to ***ca, my escalation as not been acknowledged after it was said I will be contacted within 8 business working hours. So nowhere during this whole process has Absa informed me that they had system errors on the day of my debit, all I keep getting are mails saying my car instalment was insufficient. Today I receive a mail from Henri Meiring stating that the refund was done however my car account is in arrears because I reversed the debit order, which I did not. The bank returned the debit. My complaint has since been closed.

I need to know: 1. Why was my full instalment not debited on 20/06/2025 2.If it was a system error, why did Absa not communicate this. 3. Who is liable for the bank charges that caused the refund to be short, resulting in this mess that I find myself in, where my vehicle finance account in arrears.

There were sufficient funds in my account on the morning of the 20/06/2025. So Absa I need answers and a solution to this mess.
