ABSA Vehicle Fianance: Initiating Debit Order without Clients Consent

Dear ABSA Vehicle Customer Care Team I would like to raise my concern on how ABSA Vehicle Finance initiated a debit order on my bank account without my written consent. In 2020 my business was negatively affected due to the Covid-19 lockdown, which had financial repercussions on my business and financial situation respectively. It's been four years since Covid-19 and my financial situation is gradually recovering, however there are months that I am paid late by my clients, and this was the reason for terminating my previous debit order, should there be late payments and no funds in my account, the debit order will bounce, having financial consequences on my account. My vehicle account is up to date, however in the respective months when I have setbacks with clients paying late, I will call ABSA Vehicle and make arrangements for the late payment, as I did for Dec-24. On the 20th Dec-25 ABSA debited my account, and with not sufficient funds in my bank account, the debit order was reversed, however this came at a cost to me. It is unacceptable that ABSA Bank can impose a debit order without their customer's consent. I would appreciate that the above matter be invetigated as urgent, and look forward to understanding as to how ABSA Vehicle Finance initiated a debit order without written consent from the client being me on my bank account. I look forward to ABSA Bank's feedback in the matter, before I revert that matter to the NFO National Financial Ombudsman for their intervention in this matter. Kind regards

Dear ABSA
Further to receiving your email below, I am really concerned that this matter appears to be covered up by the respective ABSA Vehicle Finance Manager/s, and for this reason please can you assist to provide me with details of a Senior ABSA Vehicle Manager that I can engage in this matter.
I would however like to state the following in response to your email:
- Firstly there was no debicheck mandate sms sent to me before Dec-24, and I have proof of this, the only sms that I received on the 12th Dec-24 was as per the attached, which I believe is clearly understandable that there is no option of Yes / No for debit order on my account.
- Secondly the team did not receive any response from me w.r.t to the Debicheck, because I never received an sms as I indicated above. I originally stated that I called in to inform the Call Centre Consultant namely John c/o the ABSA Payment Arrangement team that my EFT will be a bit late and I provided the date of the 24th Dec-24, so I firmly disagree that I provided a response of accepting the Debicheck on my account.
- Should ABSA not remove the Debit Order from my account, I will have no option but to revert to the Banking Ombudsman for their intervention in the above matter, however before I engage the Banking Ombudsman, I would like the details of the Senior Manager for ABSA Vehicle Finance as requested.
I am therefore of the understanding that the file cannot be closed, as I believe that there is a level of deceit and a cover up at play in this matter. I have all the call logs for my interaction with ABSA, therefore know for a fact that my ducks are in order.
I trust the above is in order, and look forward to hearing from the ABSA Vehicle Manager by the 27th Dec-24, should I not receive any feedback, I will have no option but to open a case with the Banking Ombudsman.
