ABSA vehcile Finance

The problem roused when I lost my Job and was without work for 8 months in 2008, we decided to go for Debt Counselling and been on it till 2010/11. I paid an amount of R40000 into my ABSA account in January 2011 to cover some of the arrears. I manage to pay as promised and it went on till 2014 and also experience problems with the car which I had to fixed for the amount of R27000… and as a matter we started falling behind on payments again as also personal issues aroused with our children losing their jobs.

I phoned plenty times to see if I can solve this problem on my account or come to an agreement but could not rich that far at that time. To get statements of the account was also an issue, waiting almost a year for it? I went to ABSA branch in JHB to see if they can help and was told to go and see????????????? …. we realized the car is getting older and decided to see if we can trade it in and settle the account with ABSA.

We were in a financial position to do so but I struggle with ABSA to get a better discounted settlement figure as it was too high to trade in the car…..so I phoned and asked if the can look at my account and give me a better discount/settlement in the area of about R100000…..ABSA came back to me with an answer “NO” on the 3rd of March 2015 the cars was collected by ABSA….I felt if they are not willing to help me they must take the car, had no alternative although I tried very hard to trade the car, Kia was prepared to help me but need to load the new car but the instalment would have been a problem.

According to the guy that came and collect the car it will take about twenty days and I will get a letter from ABSA saying what is happening with the car….I didn’t get anything phone call or letter, didn’t know what happened with the car? Was it sold and for how much? I found out on a credit check in August 2015, there was a default on my name from ABSA. The way I was treated and the way my account was handled on ABSA side was no acceptable ....terrible ......terrible, I was not even aware for how much the car was sold for, did not get a phone call or letter, up to today I didn’t get anything I had to phone the people who came and collect the car to find out what happened….is this the way it should work!

I was also retrenched last year September everything is falling appart , in November 2015 I Received a call from Mac Robert attorneys regarding my account, also requested a statement because I want to know what was paid on this account so far. If I am not mistaken I paid about R341000 on this vehicle to date as I bought it for R229900. I told the attorney I am not willing to pay anything further on this account because when I was in the time of need and tried to made an effort to trade in the car to settle the account with ABSA and asked for a R49000 discount it was refused……now ABSA can offer me a 60% discount while the account is with the attorneys, why didn’t ABSA gave me the discount in the first place….. Who took that decision at ABSA to say NO? It shows me they didn’t think about me as the client or made an effort to look at my account or circumstances….

Tell me how do ABSA expect me to settle the account if one has a Default against your name, where will I qualify for a loan?

UP TO NOW I DID NOT GET A STATEMENT AS REQUESTED LAST YEAR OCTOBER we I spoke to your attorneys - terrible can not live like this any longer
