Today I went grocery shopping and was about to buy R2000+ worth of groceries. Usually this goes relatively smooth (sometimes my card gets declined at certain paypoints, a new feature from ABSA), but today it was unceremoniously declined without reason. After trying to pull money to pay, I was notified that I had reached my limit and couldn't pull more than R1000 (I had previously set the limit to R5000 and never changed it or pulled money before that point). Ok, so I decided to pay the outstanding amount at the sales-point. Unfortunately from me, there was a limit in place also and I could only afford to pay an extra R1000 (Limit was set to R5000 previously). This while my poor wife had to stand there with an over-tired crying baby in her arms. I was furious, but I calmed down and decided to let it go as I had previously decided to switch to FNB due to similar situations with ABSA. (Unable to pull money from an ABSA atm, but I could pull from FNB, etc)

I then decided to check my limits on online banking, they were still set to R5000.

Can someone at ABSA please explain to me what happens now If there is an emergency and I need access to MY cash?? Ridiculous man!
