This was my first claim with absa insurance and this is my experience so far. I logged my claim for a burst geyser and more than a week later this matter was not resolved. They sent out a plumbing company called ESB plumbers who demanded excess monies be paid before job commencement. I paid and the geyser was installed. The very same day I called them to come check the unit because the water was not heating up. Also, these people are sly as they ask you to complete a survey PRIOR to making sure everything is in order. I called the owner, Edwin to inform him about the issue and the plumber came out again. That is when I saw the *********** person used a globe to check for power and not a multimeter on the thermostat. The next day my switches tripped at the DB board and I contacted the owner again. He sent someone to check and told me it is a warranty claim with the manufacturer and that Kwikot needs to come and assess and fix the matter. The geyser blanket which I needed to pay for is incorrect and the manner in which it was secured is MOST abysmal. Loose insulation tape all over. The owner told me about a fee that is flat which the bank haven't amended in years and I was sympathetic towards him but now I realized this rate should never be increased based on the level of service he provides. I have raised this matter with ABSA and all I got was sms's confirming the raised issue but no calls regarding estimated time for claim to be completed. This leaves me wondering whether or not absa should be involved with the insurance business judging by the businesses they use.
