ABSA ******** credit status
I placed myself under administration in 2005 and in 2012 the last deduction was made on my salary ( amount given by the attorneys handling my admin order). Almost 2 years later I was contacted as to why I had been defaulting on my admin order and I explained with necessary proof that I had paid what had been given by the attorneys etc, the matter was taken to court and my admin order was rescinded. I was contacted by 2 creditors, informing me that I did in fact have small amounts still outstanding, which I settled. So now, some 7 years later after banking with Absa for 30 years, I tried to apply for a credit card again, only to find out that I am still blacklisted with Absa as being under administration with an amount still outstanding. So doing some research and getting some advice regarding the matter, I contacted the credit card department only for them to insist I still pay the said amount. So I asked why had they never once contacted me in the past 7 years only come up against brick walls. Clearly someone has not done their job and now this debt falls legally under prescribed debt, but my name is still blacklisted. You can't tell me that in 7 years, the fact that they never received a cent, raised a flag .. I have a cheque account with my contact details etc. I feel that this is unjust, as they have all the resources to do credit checks, information to contact customer etc. The account lies with legal .. yet legal isn't complying with the National Credit Act.
