ABSA unhelpful to my pensioner Mom
My mother is an 82 year old pensioner, who gets a pension from Zimbabwe, twice a year only.

She has had her savings account at ABSA for close to 30 years, opening it at the old UBS.

She has been going to the branch at Fourways/Fourways crossing, since they have opened there, and is very well known to the lady who attends the pensioner counter. Since my fathers passing on Christmas day 2012, the house has had to be sold to pay his debts, and she would be homeless, were it not for a kind church member.

She battles to live as she only gets this pension twice a year, for about R13K each time... that is 26K per
annum. During all the moving down to PMB, she lost her ID, and ABSA Hayfields, refuse to let her draw more than R 500, and refuse to identify her through this lady at Fourways branch.

I find this most unacceptable, as ABSA have the technology to do a voice (phone) and video identification (web cam) with Fourways, and even suggesting this does not make them budge.

Home affairs could not take her finger print it is so degraded, so cant provide a temporary ID, and she must now wait 1 month for her new ID, last pension in was in July 2015. R 500 must last a month!!
