Absa underquotes on repairs to be done

On 17 April I had a burst geyser during a Sunday night. My insurance is with Absa. I also had serious damage to my wooden floor and some ceilings and walls.

The claim no is ***.

Absa sent an assessor by the name of Kobus van Biljon *** to assess the situation. He informed me that he will quote on repairing the floor, repainting of the walls and repairs of the ceiling. He said that Absa might offer a cash settlement so that I can fix it on my own terms. To date I have not received any formal settlement offer or any other form of advise on how the damages will be fixed.

I spoke to a lady by the name of Keitumetse Mfolo in the meantime who helped me with the claim for the gyeser. She told me verbally that she sees an amount for around R55 000 for all repairs.

I had an independent contractor come out to quote me on the floor alone, not even the ceiling or walls, and his quote was around R80 000.

It seems Absa is trying to pull a fast one on me, and I have still not received any formal offer anyway, having to live with these damages for a month and a half already. I sent numerous emails to Keitumetse with no reply.

As an Absa private bank client, I expected better service than this. I sent the formal quote from Farrel and Sons to Absa as well, to no avail.
