ABSA TRUST - NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE DOING
On 2019-01-09 all the documents was sent to Melanie from Absa Trust. I phoned on 2019-01-21 to get feedback, to find out whether all documents are correct as I did not receive any feedback from her after I sent the last documents on 2019-01-09.
On 2019-01-21 I learned that she is out of office and will only be back on 2019-01-23. I was also informed that no document was scanned into the system although the letter was drafted to the Master of the High Court.
On 2019-01-24 I contacted ABSA trust again and then I received copies of the documents that must be sent to the Master of the High Court's Office. When going through the documents I discovered that there was incorrect documents send and had to contact them again to send the correct documents to the Masters Office, trying to prevent a delay in the process.
On 2019-02-04 I contacted ABSA again to inquire whether the Masters Office received the documents and a letter was send to me stating that the documents was received at the Masters Office on 2019-01-28. After several calls to the Masters Office in Pretoria it was discovered that ABSA was supposed to send the documents to the Masters Office in Johannesburg. I contacted ABSA again and they then told me that the Masters Office has dual jurisdiction for Pretoria and Johannesburg. I then contacted the Masters Office in Pretoria again to find out that the dual jurisdiction is no longer valid (since February 2018)
I do not understand how can ABSA trust be so negligent in compiling the documents that must go to the Masters Office and furthermore not knowing of where the documents should be sent to and not knowing that an arrangement is not in place anymore.
People must think twice before the draft their wills with ABSA and if ABSA decides to compile a letter of renunciation of executor ship of the will, this is the trouble that the deceased family will sit with. I had several communications with the Estate Administrator in this matter. I wonder if this mistakes was done deliberately after I spoke with the Estate Administrator by the person handling the matter or is this big company just uninformed?
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We will investigate the matter and furnish feedback once matter has been resolved.
