ABSA Trust has proven that Fiduciary is not their specialty. (Anyone thinking of appointed them as their executor... I WISH ALL THE BEST)
I'm not sure why ABSA Trust business still exists. The BIG failure to communicate or reply to my numerous emails requesting for status update of the estate that is 5 years old. I have sent numerous emails to request for a status update from the ABSA Trust administrator and have lodged a formal complain (***ca) in May 2025 but no one is interested. Our parents died August 2020, while we understood that there was a lot of pressure due to the pandemic but we are now GATVOL. The last update we've received was on the 4th May 2023, stating that they are still in the process of collecting assets and liabilities to enable us to draft the Liquidation and Distribution Account. If the status is still the same, just reply to our email, instead of just ignoring. I've called the administrator and she assured me the she'll reply. I then called the call center for assistance because i thought maybe she has resigned as well, as we have been handed over to different administrator since the beginning of this PAINFUL journey.
I've been in pains detailing the negative impact on the business due to the estate not being finalized. There's funds stuck in the business bank account which cannot be accessed to fund operational expenses, pay SAFRICAN (funeral policies for clients), salaries and other vendors. Also we are struggling with submission of the returns with SARS as the CIPC is showing a member that is deceased, which means we are not compliant and "robbing" employees of UIF benefits. ABSA as a financial institution should understand the implications on a business when there's non-compliance with the FSCA laws.
We as the Hlongwane family demand a meeting with ABSA Trust and we expect no nasty surprises as we've have been asking for an update and we have been ignored.
