ABSA TRUST: 5+ YEARS OF INACTION HAS PUT AN ESTATE AT RISK

My son passed away on 1 June 2019, and his Will nominated Absa Trust as Executor of his estate. More than 5 years later, I am still waiting for basic accountability, meaningful communication and action. The estate included a house valued at approximately R3 million and a flat valued at approximately R800 000. Instead of protecting and administering these assets effectively, the estate as been allowed to deteriorate while issues remain unresolved. The key issues are: 1. No transparency or meaningful communication: Despite repeated requests, I have not received a clear distribution plan or regular financial reporting showing how the estate is being administered. 2. Serious mismanagement of the house: A tenant has been occupying the property without paying rent. Absa Trust has even claimed that they were unaware of the tenant. They undertook to involve their legal department and formalize the situation with a lease, yet nothing meaningful followed. The property has now accumulated more than R200 00 in municipal debt. This is unacceptable. The estate is effectively losing money while the Executor remains inactive. The house now also needs to be sold. 3. Failure to sell the flat: We requested that the flat be sold years ago. Despite this request, it remains unresolved. 4.Escalations have achieved nothing: This matter has been escalated within Absa since 2003, yet there has still been no satisfactory resolution.

This is simply poor customer service. There are real financial consequences. Every month of inaction potentially increases the estate's liabilities and diminishes the value that should ultimately benefit the deceased's children and beneficiaries. My son had been an Absa client for more than 10years and trusted that, through his Will, Absa Trust would properly administer his estate and protect his children's interests in his absence. That trust in my view has been badly let down. I'm posting publicly because repeated attempt to resolve the matter privately have failed.

Absa Trust: I expect action, not another escalation. I expect proper accounting of the estate, a clear plan for the outstanding properties, urgent action regarding the tenant and municipal debt, and progress toward the sale of both properties.

The beneficiaries deserve better than 5 years of silence, delays and mounting costs.
