Absa treats their elderly customers like garbage

On the 14th of June this year the Absa Branch in Cradlestone forced my sick father to go to the bank to prove that he was the account holder on his account. My mother had just recently passed away on 31st May and my dad was just discharged from hospital after both him and my mother contracted swine flu.

They made him go to the Branch with an oxygen tank and sit there while the lady at the bank didn't even look at him once!

I handle my dad's banking and someone at the bank helped me set up the Absa banking app on my phone. Because he is sick and unable to help himself with many things I am handling his payments etc. from the app on my phone.

Today I made a payment to my deceased mother's pension fund from his account and the payment was not successful. The message stated that because of irregularities on his account the payment was blocked. I called the bank and the ***** dept. said that they couldn't verify him as the account holder. So the woman said that "THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK HIS ACCOUNT IS TO AGAIN TAKE HIM TO THE BRANCH TO VERIFY THAT HE IS THE ACCOUNT HOLDER"!

Please help me sort this out so that I don't have to put him through the same ordeal.

Obviously no phone call.
No follow up email.
No further communication.

This morning my dad was taken to an Absa Branch closest to him.
He spent FOUR HOURS there and has to go back again tomorrow!

I am beginning to believe that this is now deliberately done to prove to him that he is NOT a "valued customer" as Absa likes to address him.

It is disgusting how he is being treated!

Dear Louis

Per our conversation via email, I informed you this matter was referred to the Cradlestone Branch for assistance, and for the capturing of the POA. Kindly confirm by email which branch your dad went to so that we can investigate the delay.

He went to ABSA in Key West.
He arrived there at 11:00 and only left at 15:00. This period is over his lunch time, during which he had to take his midday medication. He is a sick old man and ABSA staff are either not interested to help him or they are malicious.

When my sister tried to get the POA today, after waiting a long long time she was informed "OH sorry. There is a system error. Please come back tomorrow".

The lack of dignity given to him and the casual couldn't-care attitude is absolutel unbelievable!
