ABSA - the worst banking experience

I have been a loyal ABSA client for most of my young life. When I started at ABSA about fifteen years ago the good service made the bank the obvious choice. Lately however, ABSA has pushed me to the limit of my patience.

I have tried twice to link my account to the internet. Both times I was assured that it had been done, only to be disappointed by seeing that it had again not been registered. Most of the branches that I've visited are horribly under-staffed, not to mention ***********.

The final straw was today when I was told that to access my statements from the 2016 year, I would have to pay R60 per page! One page! Apparently they have to go into their "archives" to get the statements. It's called a network, you click, you access, yet I have to pay R60 per page for this "effort". It is appalling to me that I have to pay to see information of my OWN account, when this is a basic service a bank needs to offer it's clients. What's next? Will I be charged R100 when I log into the internet services (I haven't used it because of the ridiculous service, so I wouldn't know in anyway)?

ABSA has steadily declined to most certainly one of (if not the) worst banks in South Africa.

To end off, just to reiterate, I am thoroughly disgusted with a bank that has wasted my time and money.

I will be closing all my accounts with ABSA, because enough is enough.

I would advise other ABSA clients to also no longer tolerate pathetic service, because I'm afraid everyone has just gotten used to it and now accept it as the norm.
