ABSA taking a plummet for the worst

I have banked with ABSA for more than 35 years. My parents have their wills at ABSA and they pay yearly fees to keep these wills at ABSA. I have two accounts with ABSA and my mother has a third. Ever since my father passed in 08/23 I have had difficulties with ABSA. I cannot blame the staff on ground floor. I blame management. And people that I don't see face to face. Because in Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn the staff I dealt with face to face were excellent. So I have to blame management for my endless frustration and people appointed by ABSA. Let's begin with the OUTRAGEOUS telephonic system ABSA decided to develop. So you want to contact your local bank, because you know one of the tellers who have given you a great service and who might help you a little bit faster or refer you to the right department. But no, you have to listen to endless rhetoric and waste precious airtime to figure out which department you need to contact. If you want to INITIATE a service, they advertise it well, but when you have a PROBLEM, then you have to listen through a whole menu , discover you made the wrong choice because the menu is not focused on customer problems, but rather marketing, so after wasting money on your first call you have to waste more money. Then the wait. When you have finally wasted your money, waiting for the right department, you still cannot contact the teller at your local bank, And here is a little wake-up call ABSA, we who have accounts at your bank have lives and jobs. We don't have time to wait for poor service. Speaking of poor service. A typical afternoon visit at ABSA has taken me 90 minutes on average, EVERY SINGLE TIME! The staff are friendly, but the read tape in processing EVERYTHING is just too much. Either that or you are grossly understaffed. And then my car's wheel caps get ****** because of the long wait - of course ABSA will not reimburse me! Now let's talk about my deceased father. Everything went well the first few months. I worked EXTRA hard getting the almost 40 items that were required and the R120k which I was told to pay IMMEDIATELY or else ABSA will not move a FINGER to conclude the estate. Nice attitude, ABSA. My father died, I was heartbroken, bu I had to sort out the mess of his estate. After I did my part, suddenly things slowed down dramatically. First there was a clerical error, which after some complaining I got fixed, but this error, copying a name incorrectly from an ID document, is unacceptable. THEN, when I thought finally they got their ducks in a row, I was told there is a problem between SARS and ABSA. And now, the second year has passed since my father passed and NOTHING happens to conclude my father's estate. ABSA WILLS is a service they offer, is this really the BEST they can do? Then let's talk about their OUTRAGEOUS fees!!! My mother is a pensioner and only has a few debit orders. But her banking costs are in excess of R250. Give pensioners a break for Pete's sake!! And then, over the weekend I did some buying myself. There was enough money in my account for three transactions. Then with the last transaction I came short, because of BANKING FEES on each transaction. And then, I worked out I had the right amount left, but heaven forbid I did not think of banking fees. So a simple charge amount of around R700 was declined. Okay, I thought, I guess that is not a train smash, just swipe my credit card. But guess what ABSA charges you R10 ****** Rands just because you are R30 short of a transaction. Not because you miscalculated as much, but because the amounts on hold did not show when I checked, I was charged extra with banking costs AND they decided they will charge me R10 for absolutely NOTHING. Just a basic digital handshake between the card machine at the till and ABSA. So can you imagine how many ****** TEN RANDS have been charged throughout their clients every week, every month!? DISGRACEFUL! And last but not least, their APP. You can keep it updated, you can keep your phone updated, but one day, without any logical explanation, it will crass with an unknown error. Not an error that you can give someone so they can try and trouble shoot it, no, just a RANDOM error. So there I have to go and stand in that 90 minute line again. And hope I won't have to pay another R1600 when my center wheel caps are ****** !
