ABSA takes frustration to a new level

ABSA's Online banking takes frustration to a new level. It has such limited functionality and every time you call the helpline, you get the "go into the branch" mentality.

Half the world work on Apple Macs. Macs come with SAFARI which works for every website in the world, EXCEPT ABSA! I called the helpline only to be told I had to install new software.... to do banking! Why oh why oh why! I also happen to bank with RMB whose site has absolutely no problem on Safari. How can customers be expected to install new software just to do internet banking?!

I asked for a complaint to be lodged and for a senior person to call me. Haven't heard a thing!

Some of my payments were late this month, as I was out or reach of my iPad, which somehow miraculously supports the site. Really!

The other challenge is that the site regularly has pop ups as you log on that demand your full attention and prohibit you from going further till you deal with them. Tonight for instance there was a warning regarding sim swaps - all real and valid, but you would think there would be a "remind me later" or "attend to this later" button. No... it won't even let you access your accounts until you have attended to it. Extremely annoying.

When my debit card expired, I ended up waiting in a queue for over an hour the other day, eventually had to leave, and return another day. How does this still happen.

I have already closed my credit card account and am busy moving my investment fund away as well. I will soon also be shutting down the cheque account ... purely out of frustration of the online banking, and dealing with this horrid bank.

Please get with it!
