ABSA takes chunk of pensioner's savings with opening a savings account

Opened a simple common savings acc at Glenfair ABSA but it took me a total of two days due to an in compentent financial advisor. After my husband intervened the financial advisor finally opened the account. I was requested to deposit money into account to activate it. Just over a thousand rand had been deposited via ATM and the account was activated. To my surprise it seems that ABSA automatically deducted twenty six rand in costs for opening a saving account. Is this what Africanacity means -making it almost impossible for a pensioner to open an account and once opened, took twenty six rand away from a pensioner for opening an account with ABSA? Though I'm a ABSA credit card customer for more than twenty years I thought banks want customers to open new accounts, specifically savings accounts, and then without informing the new savings account customer the immediately take money for themselves. Africanacity, indeed ABSA.
