ABSA SYSTEMS RIDICULOUS AND/OR PERSONELL ***********!
I am just back from holiday and heard the news that ABSA has closed our congregation's current account without any notice. It is impossible! Our administration is trying for the past two weeks to get the account open without any success. My own account is closed for almost a month while I have proof that I delivered all requested FICA documents on 7 December 2021. ABSA's systems are seriously flawed/ineffective/ridiculous and/or their personnel and management are ***********. Make your choice!

18 May 2022, 10:53ABSA has very serious systemic and management failures. The dishonesty of the bank regarding their management and systems failures regarding FICA and its relationship with its clients is really disheartening!
Our Dutch Reformed Church congregation's ABSA bank account is closed without any notice by ABSA. Salaries must be paid, accounts must be paid. Money must go into investment accounts, but is all frozen!
I just spoke to the congregation's relationship manager who confirmed that they received all documents that ABSA needed, but that the opening of the account is centralized and the local branch cannot open it. They can't do anything about it!
ABSA, this is unprofessional and unmasked serious flaws in your administrative and management systems. It will come to bite the company and hershareholders in the near future. Shareholders and buyers of ABSA shares, beware!
I am sure the bank spent millions if not billions of rands (that could have been paid as dividends(!) on IT and management systems. And this is the result!
Closing accounts left, right and center from unsuspecting clients without notice who are longstanding clients of ABSA and blame it on FICA requirements. In the process, the bank left its own branch personnel to bear the frustration and irritation of their longstanding clients. I feel for the ABSA relationship managers who are left in the cold by this huge failure in the systems and management processes of ABSA. Their hands are cut off, while ABSA's systems and management are failing.
