ABSA Sucks and ABSA Private Bank sucks even worse.

I have various ABSA bank accounts, on of which is a Notice Select Savings Account.

The savings account requires 7 days notice with access to 50%.

I transferred an amount to my current account last week, and a day later another amount. The total of the amounts is far less than 50%.

Suddenly the account shows that I have R0.00 balance available.

When I phone Private Bank Assist to find out what he problem is, the consultants first have to ask me security questions, which is OK.

However, the questions they ask, are not based on information on their system: they ask information they find on your Transunion Credit Report. I have access to my credit report, so I know that some of the information is incorrect.

This means that I cannot make use of Private Bank Assist as I can never pass the security test, as ABSA requires confirmation of incorrect information.

How security questions can be based on anything else but the information I gave the bank when opening the bank account, and updated from time to time, is absolutely ludicrous.

And the person that came up with that idea, is clearly an idiot.

I am now closing all by ABSA bank accounts, some of which I have had since before ABSA became ABSA and will be moving to another bank.

ABSA is fine, as long as you do not need any assistance: once you need assistance, ABSA sucks.
