Absa staff not empowered to solve problems

On 25 June 2015 I ordered a new debit card which expired on 1 July. I was told it would take 5 working days to replace the card. On 6 july 2015 (12 days later) I enquired about the new card. The clerk could not find the card although it showed on the system that it was in transit. He phoned the courier company which could not trace the reference number. Then he got stuck. He did not know what to do and suggested that I speak with a consultant about the new bundle offer. I told him I m not interested in the services on offer. He then told me that my card that was ordered on 25 June were an old batch of cards and that the cards ordered after 25 June were a new batch of cards and that he would order me a new card. He clearly had no idea how to follow-up on problems and his colleagues did not assist him. there was no manager or senior person in sight who he could turn to for assistance. The outcome: I have to wait another x amount of days and hopefully I will have a new card.
