ABSA SHOCKING SERVICE

My name is Giulia, I am an Italian doctor and I work as a surgeon in a state hospital in Johannesburg. I am shocked about the service provided by ABSA.

My Study Visa was expiring today. Yesterday I phoned Rosebank branch to ask what would I need to submit to renew my FICA documents. I was given clear instructions. Two hours later I went to that same branch and dealt with the same person I spoke on the phone. He told me he could not help me because of an issue on the proof of address filled in by my landlord. He suggested to go back the following day with my landlord to sign an affidavit stating that we live together. Today my bank account got blocked and to try and restore it I went to ****arney mall with my landlord who signed the affidavit. I was then told that the bank account could not be unblocked cause the new visa that I presented (critical s****s visa) is hand written and not typed. I asked to speak to the branch manager who suggested to get a new typed visa. Do you realise that this is not feasible? Do you realise that it is not my responsibility and/or fault if home affairs issues me a hand written visa that all other offices (customs, consulate, embassy) accept except ABSA? Do you realise that to obtain a typed visa I would need to resubmit an entire critical s****s visa application and proof of ******/lost passport? Do you realise that this process costs 14.000 rands and could take up to 8 weeks?Do you realise that, according to you, for that entire duration I could not access my bank account or money at all? Do you realise what implication can this have on peoples's life and on their well being? Do you have any idea of the frustration? I have ****** rands on my bank account that are mine and I cannot access to for an unlimited period of time! How am I meant to even go to work without money for fuel? How will I be able to pay my Discovery medical aid or car insurance that are due on Monday? I would hope you'd provide an immediate solution to this. From my side I am 100% sure that in the future I will not carry on banking with ABSA and that if Discovery temporarily suspends my medical cover you will be held liable for that.
