Yesterday, I drew cash from my credit card at the ATM. I didn't receive an sms notification. I have experienced credit card ***** on one occasion and was only immediately aware due to the sms notifications.I phoned the helpline today and spoke to Thabile for about 20 minutes. All she could tell me by the end of it was that my silver card is being replaced with a gold one and that is why I did not receive an sms. She could not tell me where my supposed new card was or why I had not received an email regarding all of this.I am utterly shocked! She said she would get Linda Masemula to contact me within 2 hours with more information. Once again, the helpline was not helpful and I didn't hear from them. I later phoned enquiries where Nelisiwe passed me on to Tinoko who passed me on twice until I was through to Rushaan Dove of the credit card division. After another 20 minutes, she informed me that my card is with the courier and will be delivered to my branch within 3-5 days. She couldn't help me resolve the fact that I have stopped receiving sms notifications for my credit card account yet I am still receiving sms notifications for my cheque account. She said the "Notify Me" was still on according to the system. I pleaded with her to follow up and let me know, despite her arguing with me and actually being quite rude. I said that I would await her call as I'm sure the credit card division should be able to help me with a credit card issue. About half an hour later, she phoned and said that she had tried to get through to complaints but was not successful. She said she would call me in the morning after speaking to the complaints department and would supply me with a reference number. I said I'd appreciate it. She asked if I'd like the telephone number for complaints but I said I'd rather she just phone me with the reference number first. She then, very patronizingly once more, asked if I was listening to what she was saying and if I could acknowledge it. I tried 3x to repeat what she had said while she was shouting over me. I ended the call by saying I'd appreciate her call in the morning. By the end of at least an hour of my valuable time and airtime today, all I am left with is, "Wait for 3-5 days and then get sms notifications switched on for that existing account."I am absolutely NOT happy with that. Someone could use the money in my account and I would have no clue because my switched on smses are actually switched off.The fact that no one at ABSA felt that this was a security breach astonishes me. This issue is a matter of urgency.
