ABSA - SAVEWAYS CRESENT WITBANK **********

So I am in a dilemma here. I have been banking with ABSA for the past 11 years and I never experienced a problem with them. Instead I would recommend people I know to rather bank with ABSA.

For some odd bad luck reason, this year (2018) on the 24th of January my husband tried to deposit an amount of R5000.00 to my account via the ATM. As he was busy with the process and inserted the money, the ATM switched off, with no notification on the transfer of the money or let alone the money being returned at that moment. He then called the emergency number on the ATM whereby (because it was after hours) they told him to relax, he can return to the bank the following day and they will refund him the money. He did that and they helped him to open up a log complaint with case reference number: **********

They told him the money would be returned to him or rather be deposited into my account within 5days. A week passed and nothing happened. Second week passed and still nothing. We then went to the bank and they told us that the case has been closed on their end but has been escalated to their cash centre which is the SBV in Witbank. The gentleman who was handling the case there was Joseph (I do not know his surname). I have been requesting the footage of the ATM and no one seems to be willing to give me that. I have since not heard anything from ABSA ever since THEY say my case has been closed.

Furthermore, I then received an email from: ABSA ********** on the 8th February 2018 reading as follows:

Epay notification

Please confirm the status of funds that was posted to your savings account.

ABSA Online

So automatically according to me, I am thinking this could be my refund of the R5000.00 saga that happened in January. I then clicked on the link to confirm the funds in my account whereby R4500.00 got deducted from my savings account. As I was still concentrating on this, BOOM another R4500.00 gets deducted. I immediately saw what was happening and called ABSA ***** line whereby I spoke to a gentleman who confirmed that my account was being hacked. He immediately stopped my online banking, sent me electronic banking ***** forms to fill in which I took to the police station and opened up a case with the SAPS (case no.:242/2/2018 at Witbank Police Station).

I sent the forms back to ABSA and was then sent a case number: ASZA-1 ********** 3.

The email read as: Risk ConnectZone ********** Good day

Thank you for your email,

Please find attached your case reference number:ASZA-1 ********** 3

A case has been logged for you, you should receive an sms with your investigators details within the next 7-10 working days

I called them last week and was told my investigating officer is Nonhlanhla Khoza - ********** . I have been trying to call this number and there seems to be no answer.

In total in a matter of 2 months I have lost R14000.00 from ABSA and worse there is no vital communication giving me direction.

At the point that I am at right now, I would not recommend any person to open up an account with ABSA because you will never know the safety of your money. I am in the process of wanting to close my accounts with them because there is absolutely no use to keep a service provider where your money will just disappear and no one wants to give answers of where it has gone to. R14000.00 is a lot of money to just disappear.

I am so angry its ****ing me... My online banking is still blocked, telling me about an ongoing case that does not have a conclusion.... WHAT AN INCONVINIENCE!!!!

GUYS!!!!!! Stay FAR AWAY FROM ABSA!!
