ABSA's Age of Aquarias Computer Technology (where is the -0 star?)

Today (23/03) I received by e-mail my ABSA credit card statement which informed me that I was considerably overdrawn on my credit limit - a follow up sms from ABSA also informed me of the fact.

The debit which put me beyond my limit was due to the internet travel agent I did flight bookings through duplicating the charge RXX000.00 for the flights I booked.

The transaction duplicated was the cause of the overdraw on my credit limit.

Unlike all other credit card transactions I was not notified by sms about the duplicated amount of R XX000.00 and neither was the transaction rejected by the bank because it took me beyond my credit limit.

I immediately went to ABSA and transferred from my ABSA Savings Account to my ABSA Credit Card an amount far in excess of my overdrawn amount.

Two hours later I endeavoured to transact a purchase of R302.00 with my ABSA Credit Card which was declined.

A transaction of R300.00 was declined whilst a transaction of RXX000.00 that took me over my credit limit was blissfully authorized by ABSA and no transaction advice was messaged to me on my cell phone regarding this excessive transaction. How the hell does that work ? Hell being a very polite word here !

But woa and behold on the transaction that took me way beyond my credit limit, it is left up to my monthly statement and a sms to inform me that I had exceeded my credit limit.

I phoned ABSA and they told me that the cash transfer from my ABSA savings account credit of R XX000.00 to my ABSA Credit Card was going to take 24 hours to clear before I could transact on it again.

My question of who was counting the cash internet transfer to autheticate that the R***XX.00 cash credit paid via internet banking from my ABSA savings account to the ABSA Credit Card was indeed real money was exclaimed as "no it doesn't happen like that, the rule is the Credit Card can now only be transacted again 24 hours after the Cash Deposit."

Further hereto when adding up on my Credit Card statements the sub-totals and subtracting the credits on my March transactions I noticed an overcharge of R***X.77. The R***X.77 was a February transaction paid in full on the lst March 2017 but still counted into the amount owed for March.

I was told to send an e-mail to the dispute department of ABSA regarding this "computer glitch" in which I commented how much of a ****ing this glitch must be rich pickings for ABSA with all the clients who do not go to the trouble of checking their statements.

This entire saga gives me serious thought that ABSA's credit card system facilitates ***** rather than deters it. The Bank needs to get their act together

. . . most unlikely to happen but in the meantime ABSA clients CHECK the sub-totals and credits on your statement, you could well be skinned like I could have been by the "computer glitch"
