Thank you Vanessa,
I am making a stand because I have terminal cancer and am only alive because I am on a clinical trial. I disposed of all my assets not expecting to live beyond May 2022.
My only income is my old age state pension of R1990/month.
The insurance policy I took out with ABSA relating to my credit cards in 2009 was via telephone and I believed then, as I do to this day, that it covered the debt in full.
I have no documentation of the policies.
It is morally ******* for ABSA to pursue a debt of a person who is unable to pay. The offer I made was rejected out of hand and with contempt.
What benefit does ABSA gain from taking me to court? I can't pay? If I could I would.
For 40 or more years I conducted my credit card account responsibly.
When I was retrenched in 2020 I contacted ABSA credit card division and we made arrangements that the policy would pay off the debt as long as I did not use the cards again. I have comp**** with this request.
