Absa RoadCover, **** or not?
Bethlehem branch.
I spent 3 hours in Absa to try and get answers for a debit order that I have been paying since November 2022. October 2022 I received a call from an Absa representative to sell me RoadCover. I agreed to a R49/pm payment and the first debit order went off November 2022. They sent me an email stating that I will receive my membership information in the next 48 hours. I never received it. In hindsight I should have followed up. Fast forward to this morning when I noticed the debit order has increased from R49 to R54. I called Absa to enquire why the increase, they put me on hold and transferred me to numerous people and no one seemed to be able to help me. The last person I talked to guided me through the banking app to check my ‘insurance hub’, it stated that I was not covered for anything. She recommended I visit my nearest branch as this is strange. I visit the branch and the customer service representative was trying to be very helpful BUT he could not get a number for RoadCover and after numerous attempts and different calls to different departments he asked if he could call me back with answers, as he was not aware of Absa having RoadCover. I then went to a consultant to help me with my Apple Pay and asked her if she had any information on RoadCover. She rep**** that she sees a lot of Absa clients with said RoadCover, and she has attended a lot of training but never on this. I asked her if it existed and she could not answer me. I wanted to know what the next steps were on how to handle this and she suggested I just stop the debit order. I asked what about the money I have been paying for the past almost 3 years and she said I will just loose it. They gave me a telephone number associated with the account number the money has been transferred to. When I called it was the Nedbank Debit Order department. I have been a customer at Absa for 15 years now and have enjoyed banking with them. I just want some answers as to what is going on. It seems they do not know what is going on in their system.
Best regards,
