Absa Rewards ****

I fail to understand the logic behind the rewards scheme , I always see absa rewards deductions on my bank statement. Do I have to pay in order for me to earn my own rewards ? How does one not partake in the absa rewards scheme? Banks always tend to find mischievous ways to get money from us- Absa is the worst.
